Prom Nite

Filed under: Movie Reviews — happyscribblers @ 4:35 am

Hey there,  I managed to catch a movie last minute and it was “Prom Nite”

Here’s are the summary: (adapted from internet)

Donna senior prom is supposed to be the best night of her life, one of magic, beauty and love.Surrounded by her best friends, she should be safe from the horrors of her past. But when the night turns from magic to murder there is only one man who could be responsible ,the man she thought was gone forever. Now,Donna and her friends must find a way to escape the sadistic rampage of an obsessed killer and survive their prom night.

All in all,the story is understandable,a little scary (killing & murderer-himself).I’ll give 4.5/5 instead.

Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda Production Photo

Set in the legendary world of ancient China, the lazy and irreverent panda, Po (voiced by Jack Black), must somehow become a kungfu master in order to save the Valley of Peace from a villainous snow leopard, Tai Lung. Po ultimately became a hero by learning that if believes in himeself, he can do anything.

Well, that’s the synopsis of the movie. The movie was inspiring and motivating. However, if you ask little children what was the message of the movie, they will be clueless. The movie audience should be 13 and above. The age where they are searching for their identity. The message: believe in yourself is strong for pre-teens and teenagers. Also, it’s a great movie to watch when you are having one of those ‘low-self-esteem’ days.

Despite all that, 4 popcorns for the animation and hilarious plot.

Juno

Juno

Have you heard any 16 years old High School student, speaking this way?
“Dealing with things way beyond my maturity level”

In this movie name Juno, which is also the character name acted by Ellen Page, portray a different kind of scene. By having an unplanned pregnancy with Bleeker[Michael Cera], to having supportive family and friend that doesn’t resort her to get any abortion though in the first place and finding any couple that is willing to adopt her baby after the baby is born.
Guess who decide all this for her? None other than Juno herself! Yes, being 16 years old able to decide for herself is the least we could find it over in reality. Though the unplanned pregnancy was just a teens curious-ness to try out.
Besides her being pregnant and having supportive people by her side, this movie shows the wittiness and humour in their speech which at times chuckled me and makes me think “Oh WOW!”.
Plus, the well done acting and good cinematography, I just love their soundtrack.

Therefore I must say this movie is such a MUST WATCH!!!
Forget it if you think this is childs play!

Movie Review
JUMPER

Alright, time for another movie review by yours truly. Jumper, is about individuals with the ability to teleport to anywhere in the world. That would be fun wouldn’t it? You could have breakfast in Paris, lunch in Taxas, dinner down under, and still be home in time to catch soccer on TV. Defiantly, a cool power to have.

Unfortunately, this movie does not live up to its hype. If you watch the trailer, thats basically the whole story wrapped up in 2 and a half minutes. The only reason that would make you stay in your seat, is that you just wanna see how the hero beats the bad guy and saves the day. And thats about it actually.

This movie could have been better, as I was expecting more due to the hype. But effects were really cool. Samuel L. Jackson is as good as ever. Hayden Christenson, who also played Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars episode 2 and 3, gave a borderline performance in my opinion. Some of his dialog felt monotonous but not as bad as Josh Harnet in “30 Days of Night”

So final verdict, Jumper is a movie with a very simple generic storyline that jumps straight into the action.

3 out of 5 jump scars. (You’ll know what jump scars are when you watch the show)

MOVIE REVIEW

CLOVERFIELD

Cloverfield poster

Cloverfield Trailer

Wow, my first movie review! I’m so excited!

Alright lets get the ball rolling. Last night, my girlfriend and I watched Cloverfield and I must say, I had mixed feelings about the movie.

I can sum it up in 2 words actually… Blair Witch

Yes, this movie is shot in 1st person view, exactly like “The Blair Witch Project” with lots of shaky camera shots. The movie puts the audience into the eyes of the camera man through out the entire movie and you may at times feel like you are actually there. And there are moments which I call, “Oh shit” moments where something happens and all you can say is well… You get my point.

Story wise, I find it difficult to say so much without spoiling the movie. It starts out slow, the main characters were having a farewell party which is then cut short by mysterious and terrifying chain of events. (If the head of the Statue of Liberty hurled at you isn’t terrifying enough, I don’t know what is)

Good points are that, the way it is filmed, it looked real! And the sense of mystery is everywhere and you’re left thinking “Whats going on?” and “What’s gonna happen next?”

Bad points is that, the entire film is shot through the eyes of the camera man and this may give some people headaches and nausea. Also, this kind of storytelling technique is not for everyone because you don’t know whats going on and may be left thinking “What the hell is going on?”

All in all, Unfortunately this movie’s strength is it’s weakness.

I give this movie 2 1/2 out of 5 Statue of Liberty heads.

The Nanny Diaries

The Nanny Diaries is based on a Novel by Emma Mclaughlin and Nicola Kraus. It tells a story about a young woman, named Annie Braddock, whom is fresh out of college. Pressured from her nurse mother to search for a job in the business world, she took up a job as a nanny instead and work for a wealthy family referred to as the “X’s”. Annie finds that working for the “X’s” is not as easy as she thought it would be. There are many rules to obey and things gets more difficult when she falls for a Harvard Hottie, a neighbour of the “X’s”.
One thing audeince can learn from this movie is that love cannot be bought by money. Wealth does not make a person happy.

Starring: SCARLETT JOHANSSON, ALICIA KEYS, LAURA LINNEY, CHRIS EVANS

I’ll give it 3.5 out of 5 Diaries!
